STUDENT PROJECTS @ UNITY '08

Every four years, UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc. holds a joint national convention of the four national journalism associations which represent Asian American, African American, Hispanic, and Native American journalists. The convention is the largest journalism convention in the world, expected to draw over 10,000 reporters, editors, and other media professionals. The UNITY ’08 convention will be held in Chicago, IL.

UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc., the convener of UNITY ‘08, traces its origins to 1986. The four alliance associations work as a force for positive change to advance the presence, growth and leadership of journalists of color in the global news industry.

Students from across the nation will participate in week-long projects at the UNITY ‘08 Convention in Chicago, IL, July 23-27, at the McCormick Place West. Dozens of aspiring journalists will work side by side with professionals and mentors to produce solid and innovative journalism across media platforms in a more integrated “convergence” newsroom.

The deadline for the student projects ended on March 31. Stay tuned for updated information on the new Converged Student Media Project at UNITY '08!
